SDG 9: INDUSTRY, INNOVATION, AND INFRASTRUCTURE

Infrastructure has an important role for every development sector. Infrastructure plays an important role in opening isolated areas so that people can have access to social, political and economic life to improve their welfare and quality of life. Infrastructure is very important to support the increase in agricultural productivity and the marketing of agricultural products that are mutually beneficial. Infrastructure plays an important role in increasing community access to schools and other educational services, as well as health services for qualified human development. Infrastructure is very important for energy supply, economic growth, urban and settlement growth, clean water supply and sanitation as well as transportation development

At the same time, infrastructure development also has the potential to “reduce” productive agricultural land, protected forests and can interfere with biodiversity conservation if not carried out in a sustainable manner. For this reason, environmentally friendly transportation options are needed, namely those that produce lower pollution, choices of technology that are friendly to the environment and do not endanger biodiversity, etc. For example, increase the number of rail (rail) transportation facilities compared to road modes for transportation of motorized vehicles that produce air pollution (especially if fuel-based). Another example is the construction of flyovers for areas that are waterways and places for “water seepage”.
