Student led society whose purpose is to engage with sustainability
The Master’s Program in Environmental Science at Universitas Padjadjaran, as part of the global Higher Education Sustainability Initiative (HESI), plays a key role in advancing academic contributions to environmental solutions and sustainable development. As one of Indonesia’s leading universities, Unpad continues to address climate change challenges through integrated academic programs and student-driven initiatives. Student organizations such as Ocean Young Guards, Student Energy Unpad, and Unpad Hejo actively promote marine conservation, clean energy development, and environmental education, reflecting strong youth engagement in sustainability and collaborative action to protect the environment.
Master Program of Environmental Science (HESI Member Community)
Among the climate change alliances stated before, one of the Universitas Padjadjaran’s student group is a member of HESI network. The HESI community consists of UN entities, university networks, student organizations, and higher education institutions committed to advancing sustainable development. Master Program on Environmental Science, Graduate School, Universitas Padjadjaran as Higher Education Institution has joined HESI network since 2023.This study program has some courses related to sustainability such as natural resources economy, watershed management, environmental and spatial planning, environmental impact assessment, and others.

Unpad Hejo
Unpad Hejo is an initiative by the Environmental Department of BEM Kema Universitas Padjadjaran that focuses on education, outreach, and real actions to preserve the environment. Launched during the 2020 term of BEM Kema Unpad, Unpad Hejo aims to raise awareness among Unpad students about environmental issues, particularly around the Jatinangor campus.
This program provides informational media about the environmental conditions on and around campus, while also encouraging students to actively participate in environmental preservation efforts. One of the mascots of Unpad Hejo is Mang Uhe, which is used as a symbol to deliver environmental messages to students.

Student Energy Unpad is a student led organization that empowers future energy leaders and contributes to the global transition toward sustainable energy systems. As part of the international Student Energy network, a non governmental organization in the energy sector with chapters worldwide, Student Energy Unpad has been active since February 2019, promoting affordable, clean, and sustainable energy. Open to students interested in global energy issues, the organization fosters learning and impact driven action. Its initiatives include developing an electric bicycle prototype, Easy Bike, and exploring solar powered charging stations in collaboration with university partners.
