Sustainability 2022

About Us

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests. Although the SDGs aren’t focused on higher education, the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 will require all hands on deck. It will require different sectors and actors working together in an integrated manner by pooling financial resources, knowledge and expertise. This must include the resources of universities and higher education. The Impact Rankings are the first global attempt to measure university progress specifically around the SDGs. It can be a catalyst for action, a mechanism for holding our universities to account, and an opportunity for them to highlight great work that they are already doing.
