Universitas Padjadjaran’s Outreach and Capacity Building for Policymakers and Government Officials in 2024

In 2024, Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) strengthened its position as a leading knowledge institution contributing directly to policymaking at the national, regional, and local levels. Through the involvement of its experts in strategic government bodies, the work of its university-based think tank, and scientific support provided to local governments, Unpad delivered research-based insights that inform more accurate, sustainable, and inclusive public policies. These contributions reflect Unpad’s strong commitment to bridging academia and government in order to enhance governance quality and improve community welfare.

Learning from Unpad: Leadership Training Participants Explore Innovation and Public Service Governance

 

In 2024, Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) strengthened its role as a model of effective institutional governance by receiving a field study visit from participants of the Administrator Leadership Training (PKA) Batch II of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology’s Training Center. Held on June 7, 2024, at Bale Rucita, Unpad Jatinangor, the visit aimed to provide participants with firsthand insights into Unpad’s organizational management, service innovations, and governance practices. According to Acting Head of the Training Center, Dewi Andayani, Unpad was selected due to its strong track record of achievements, with the expectation that participants would document key lesson learned for adaptation and implementation as change initiatives within their respective institutions. The visit was officially welcomed by Unpad’s Director of Human Resources, Aulia Iskandarsyah, Ph.D., and further enriched by presentations from Prof. Engkus Kuswarno, Prof. Tomy Perdana, Dr. Risna Resnawaty, and program study leaders with “Unggul” accreditation, demonstrating Unpad’s commitment to sharing best practices and supporting capacity building for public sector leadership.

 

Enhancing Legal and Policy Competence: Unpad’s Collaboration with Badiklat Kumdil

Formalized through a renewed Memorandum of Understanding signed on July 24, 2024, the collaboration between Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) and the Supreme Court of Indonesia’s Research, Strategy, and Judicial Training Agency (Badiklat Kumdil) supports the development of strategic policy recommendations, joint evaluations, and the implementation of the university’s tridharma in the fields of law and judicial studies. The cooperation, anchored through the Faculty of Law, provides extensive capacity building opportunities for policymakers, including knowledge exchange, expert lectures, capacity enhancement programs, and access to academic research. Badiklat Kumdil also serves as a practical learning environment for Unpad students through MBKM and research activities, while Unpad offers flexible hybrid learning pathways for judicial staff pursuing further studies. The collaboration additionally opens avenues for joint research on emerging policy issues such as climate change and its implications for the justice sector, reflecting Unpad’s commitment to equipping policymakers and legal practitioners with evidence based insights and advanced competencies.

Unpad Supports Bureaucratic Reform Through EdEx-Based Learning Programs in 2024

Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) strengthened its collaboration with the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (Kementerian PANRB) in 2024 through the Unpad EdEx platform, which provides digital and hybrid learning programs in human capital management, governance, and public administration. This partnership focuses on developing e-learning content for the Smart Civil Servant (Smart ASN) platform and conducting training programs such as the Customer-First Mindset, designed to enhance digital leadership and service-oriented governance within the Indonesian bureaucracy.

Through this initiative, Unpad supports the government’s Electronic-Based Governance System (SPBE) and contributes to the professional development of 55 high- and mid-level government officials, equipping them with modern administrative and leadership skills. Rector Prof. Rina Indiastuti emphasized that this collaboration aligns with the university’s mission to deliver lifelong learning and public education, ensuring that both civil servants and professionals continuously update their competencies.
