SDG 1: NO POVERTY

Low economic prosperity is a current problem. Weak economic activity in underprivileged communities causes poverty to persist. Apart from that, poverty is also the root cause of new problems, such as hunger and lack of education. With this, Padjadjaran University is committed to providing equal access to fulfil the basic needs of every citizen. This is the first step to solving the problem of poverty and a sustainable, decent life.

University anti-poverty programmes

Universitas Padjadjaran pays great attention to equitable education, especially for prospective students from low-income families. Universitas Padjadjaran’s main focus in achieving this target is to commit to providing scholarships and tuition fee relief at the university. This action is one form of Universitas Padjadjaran accepting students from Indonesia’s bottom 20% of families. In addition, the steps taken by UNPAD to achieve this are through the UNPAD Strategic Plan for 2020-2024 and the Chancellor’s Decree on the Adjustment of Single Tuition Fee (UKT) Payments for Universitas Padjadjaran Students, this allows students to pay tuition fees according to their economic capabilities.

Other scholarships from UNPAD’s collaboration with other institutions are also implemented and increased every year. All faculties at UNPAD have implemented a tuition fee relief program for poor students. The following is data on students who receive various scholarships from UNPAD.    One of our efforts is to prioritize the first generation who attend college in their families so that they can complete their studies without any major obstacles. Through various efforts, UNPAD is firmly committed to providing equal opportunities to achieve quality higher education. The graduations obtained are tangible evidence of the positive impacts provided by the university and faculty.

UNPAD is very much considering the form of support for students from underprivileged families. One is prioritizing students from the lower middle class who get dormitories provided by the campus. Not only are educational and housing scholarships provided by UNPAD but support such as legal aid helps them overcome any legal problems that may affect their studies or personal lives. This legal aid service is essential to the university’s commitment to student welfare.

By providing this support, Unpad ensures students can focus on their academic goals without legal problems. The legal aid program reflects the university’s holistic approach to student support, which addresses academic needs and personal and legal challenges. Another effort was made to provide an opportunity to reduce their tuition fees through a tuition fee adjustment form.

Some forms of UNPAD support for students such as:
