Establishment of the Citarum Center of Research (CCR) – Strengthening Government Collaboration on Water Security
Universitas Padjadjaran demonstrates its strong commitment to cooperation on water security through the establishment of the Citarum Center of Research (CCR). The CCR serves as a multidisciplinary research hub designed to support the government’s flagship program, “Citarum Harum,” which aims to restore and protect the Citarum River one of Indonesia’s most critical water sources. The center functions as a collaborative platform connecting academia, government, and local communities to address water-related challenges such as pollution, waste management, and sustainable resource utilization. Through this collaboration, Unpad actively contributes to policy formulation, environmental monitoring, and community-based conservation programs, reinforcing its role as a key academic partner in achieving national water security goals.
The CCR integrates scientific research, technological innovation, and public engagement to create sustainable and data-driven solutions for the Citarum River Basin. Researchers and students from various disciplines conduct studies on water quality, ecosystem restoration, and waste reduction, providing evidence-based recommendations for government action. Beyond research, the CCR also plays an educational role, raising public awareness about the importance of clean water and environmental stewardship.
