In 2024, Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) strengthened its collaboration with non governmental organizations (NGOs) through initiatives integrating student volunteering, research innovation, and educational development to promote sustainability and advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These collaborations, including humanitarian programs with the Malaysian Red Crescent, the Padjadjaran Green Innovation Summit (PGIS) 2024, and the Wadhwani Foundation Training Programme, demonstrate Unpad’s commitment to fostering real-world impact through education, research, and community engagement.
Collaboration with Malaysian Red Crescent Society in Volunteering Activities
Through its student based humanitarian initiative, Korps Sukarela Palang Merah Indonesia (KSR PMI) Universitas Padjadjaran collaborated with the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (UKM Chapter) to conduct joint volunteering activities focused on humanitarian response, disaster preparedness, and cultural exchange. This international collaboration strengthened student volunteering networks and allowed Unpad students to engage directly in community service, emergency response, and public health education. The programme enhanced students’ leadership, empathy, and global citizenship while supporting SDG 3 (Good Health and Well Being), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
In addition, Padjadjaran Green Activity, another initiative by Unpad students, collaborated with River Clean Up to conduct a clean-up movement in Kampung Cibarani, Bandung, West Java, involving student volunteers who actively participated in waste collection, environmental education, and community engagement. This volunteering activity empowered students to act as agents of change, fostering environmental awareness and promoting collective responsibility for a cleaner and greener future. Together, these initiatives demonstrate Universitas Padjadjaran’s strong commitment to advancing SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through integrated sustainability education, research-based collaboration, and active student participation.

Padjadjaran Green Innovation Summit (PGIS) 2024 – Research Based Innovation
The Padjadjaran Green Innovation Summit (PGIS) 2024, organized by the Student Executive Board (BEM Kema Unpad) Department of Environment, demonstrated Universitas Padjadjaran’s collaboration with non governmental organizations (NGOs) in promoting research based innovation for sustainability. Held on 30 October 2024 at Bale Santika, Jatinangor, and supported by Greenpeace Indonesia, Plan International Indonesia, Greeneration Foundation, and Teens Go Green Indonesia, the event encouraged students to design evidence based solutions for waste management and climate challenges. Activities included Forum Group Discussions (FGDs), research project presentations, and field visits to recycling facilities, providing direct learning on circular economy practices. PGIS 2024 strengthened cross sector collaboration and advanced SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Training and Curriculum Development Workshop with Wahdani Foundation

Universitas Padjadjaran also strengthened NGO collaboration in educational resource development through its partnership with the Wadhwani Foundation. This programme provided training and curriculum development workshops for Unpad lecturers to enhance entrepreneurship education and innovation based learning. The initiative integrated entrepreneurial mindset education into teaching practices, equipping both educators and students with practical tools for creativity, innovation, and business sustainability. By empowering educators through structured learning modules and digital teaching tools, this partnership contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
