Instalation of solar panel in small-scale poultry farmer
Universitas Padjadjaran provides direct energy efficiency services to local communities and small-scale industries through its KKN program in Desa Cihampelas, which introduced an automatic chicken coop heating system powered by solar energy. The program included workshops, demonstrations, and hands-on training on renewable energy technologies for local youth groups, high school students, and small-scale poultry farmers. By collaborating with electrical engineering students to design and implement a solar-powered heating prototype, the initiative helped poultry producers reduce dependence on conventional electricity and improve operational efficiency. Community outreach activities, such as renewable energy seminars and PLTS model-building sessions, further strengthened local understanding of clean energy applications, making the program a practical contribution to energy-efficient and sustainable rural industry development.
Renewable Energy Training for Students of SMAN 1 Cililin

Universitas Padjadjaran, through its 2024 KKNM programme, delivered a renewable-energy training session at SMAN 1 Cililin to strengthen students’ knowledge of clean-energy technologies. Using the module Clean Energy Initiative: Solar Panel for Brighter Future as the core learning material, Unpad students introduced the principles of solar-panel systems, including how photovoltaic cells convert sunlight into electricity, the components of a PLTS system, and real-world applications such as household systems, public lighting, water pumps, and electric-vehicle charging. The session included hands-on demonstrations in which students built miniature solar-power models, allowing them to directly observe the flow of energy through panels, controllers, batteries, and electrical loads. This interactive approach not only improved students’ technical understanding of renewable energy but also encouraged them to engage in sustainable innovation and clean-energy adoption within their community.

Applying IoT Technology in Automatic Fertigation to Improve Agricultural Productivity

The development and application of an automatic fertigation system prototype based on IoT at the Jati Asih Farmers Group in Karyamukti Village supports local agricultural efficiency through the integration of smart technology. The Unpad team assisted researcher Saukat and his colleagues in designing and assembling the initial pipeline system and successfully connecting the electrical installation required to operate the device. This prototype enables precise and timely nutrient and water delivery to crops, reducing energy use from conventional pumping and minimizing resource waste. Through this initiative, farmers gain exposure to modern, energy-efficient agricultural technologies that enhance productivity while supporting sustainable farming practices.
