In 2024, Universitas Padjadjaran strengthened its commitment to inclusive education by providing access schemes and targeted support for students, staff, and faculty with disabilities. These initiatives ensure equal opportunities in academic and professional development through personalized mentoring, guidance, and counseling services. The university’s counseling centers and student service programs offer tailored support addressing academic, social, and emotional challenges faced by students with disabilities. Career guidance and adaptive learning strategies are also provided to help students build confidence and succeed in their studies. By integrating psychological support, mentorship, and environmental adaptations, Unpad creates a more accessible and inclusive learning atmosphere where every student, regardless of ability, can thrive and achieve their full potential in a supportive campus community.

Guidance and Counseling for Students with Disabilities

Universitas Padjadjaran provides access schemes for people with disabilities, ensuring that they have equal opportunities to succeed in their academic and professional endeavors. These schemes include targeted support such as mentorship programs specifically designed to address the unique needs of students, staff, and faculty with disabilities. Students with disabilities face unique challenges in their academic and social lives on campus. Therefore, guidance and counseling are essential to overcome these obstacles and reach their full potential.

Unpad strives to provide inclusive support for students with disabilities through general counselling, career guidance services, and various forms of psychological and academic support. Unpad has support programs that help students with disabilities face educational and social challenges, for example, through the student service centre or counselling centre. This inclusive approach can include counselling that focuses on the specific needs of students with disabilities and adaptation of the learning environment to be more supportive.

As part of its ongoing efforts to expand mentoring and targeted support for individuals with disabilities, Universitas Padjadjaran initiated the “Enhancing Disability Inclusive Education in Indonesian Universities (EmpowerID)” program, which included a capacity building visit by two academic staff from Glasgow Caledonian University from 21 to 26 April 2024. The program provided structured mentoring, knowledge transfer, and tailored guidance for Unpad’s disability stakeholders, including the Disability Task Force, disability service staff, students with disabilities, learning support units, and academic leaders. Through workshops, consultations, and direct engagement with disability experts, Unpad strengthened its targeted support system to ensure that students and future applicants with disabilities receive informed assistance, improved service readiness, and better accessibility in academic processes. This initiative reinforces Unpad’s commitment to building an inclusive academic environment where individuals with disabilities receive specialized support to navigate learning, participation, and campus life effectively.
