Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) firmly upholds ethical employment standards that reject all forms of forced labour, modern slavery, human trafficking, and child labour. These principles are embedded throughout the Rector’s Regulation on Non Civil Servant Education Staff (Non PNS TKU), which regulates recruitment, employment, and working conditions. Article 6 paragraph (1) ensures that all applicants are adults who meet educational and competency qualifications, explicitly requiring a minimum of high school education and a maximum age of 35 years at appointment, thereby preventing underage or exploitative employment practices.
The regulation further emphasizes fairness and voluntariness in employment, as all recruitment must follow transparent and merit-based processes determined by the Rector and authorized committees (Articles 7–12). All Non PNS TKU staff are employed under clear contracts and are protected under Indonesian labour laws, including the national social security system (BPJS) for health, work accidents, and pensions (Article 30). No employee may be compelled to work beyond agreed terms or under coercion, and Unpad strictly prohibits any form of forced or exploitative labour.
Through these policies, Unpad ensures that every staff member works under conditions of dignity, freedom, and safety. This aligns with Indonesia’s labour law framework and international human rights standards, reinforcing the university’s commitment to ethical employment practices and the principles of SDG 8.7, which calls for the eradication of modern slavery, forced labour, and child labour.
