In 2024, Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) strengthened its institutional commitment to food sustainability through the implementation of an ethical sourcing policy under Circular Number 39/UN6.RKT/TU.00/2024, which promotes the use of sustainably farmed food products across all university facilities. The policy directs academic and administrative units to develop clean, healthy, and environmentally friendly canteens, ensuring that food ingredients come from organic agriculture, ethical farming, and sustainable fishing practices, including the use of cage-free eggs.

Complementing this, Unpad’s canteen management regulation emphasizes maintaining high food quality and hygiene, providing diverse menu options for various dietary needs, and ensuring compliance with strict food safety standards. It also mandates the selection of sustainable raw materials through responsible sourcing and consistent supply chains. Together, these measures reflect Unpad’s holistic approach to promoting responsible consumption and production (SDG 12) and creating a campus environment that champions sustainability and ethical food practices.
