Universitas Padjadjaran actively promotes sustainable commuting through various initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental impact of transportation. These efforts include encouraging the use of non-motorized transport options like walking and cycling, and facilitating access to sustainable public transportation such as shuttle buses
Universitas Padjadjaran is committed to promoting more sustainable commuting options for its community. The university measures and sets targets to encourage the use of non-motorized transport (such as walking and cycling), as well as shared and public transport options like vanpools, carpools, shuttle buses, and public transportation.

Green transportation on campus is essential because it brings significant environmental, social, and economic benefits. In an era of climate change and increasing air pollution, many campuses worldwide are adopting green transportation initiatives to create a healthier and more sustainable environment. Universitas Padjadjaran offers several public transportation options, such as a shuttle bus for mobility on campus and three employee buses.
In 2024, Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) took concrete steps to promote more sustainable commuting by introducing four free campus shuttle vehicles, donated by PT Global Loyalty Indonesia (Alfagift). The initiative aims to reduce the use of private vehicles within the Jatinangor campus, making student and staff mobility more efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly. With one new vehicle and three rebranded units, the shuttle program supports Unpad’s broader sustainability goals by lowering carbon emissions and encouraging the academic community to adopt shared, eco-conscious transportation options.

In 2024, Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) strengthened its commitment to promoting sustainable commuting through innovative collaborations that reduce transportation-related emissions on campus. One major initiative was Unpad’s partnership with Beam Mobility, a provider of eco-friendly micromobility solutions, offering electric scooters and ride-sharing services to support clean and efficient mobility across the Jatinangor campus. A survey showed that 90 percent of Beam users reported reduced reliance on private vehicles, with 60 percent using Beam for interfaculty travel. This initiative, supported by Unpad Rector Prof. Arief Sjamsulaksan Kartasasmita, aligns with the university’s vision of developing a green campus and advancing green transportation, fostering environmental awareness and healthier commuting habits among students and staff.
