Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) has implemented comprehensive policies to minimize the use of disposable items, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and environmental protection. Guided by Rector Regulation No. 12 of 2022 on Waste Management, these policies aim to reduce reliance on single-use products such as disposable packaging, cups, plastic bags, and cutlery, while promoting reusable and eco-friendly alternatives.

The regulation explicitly prohibits and reduces the use of disposable and single-use plastics in the form of:
Drinking water packaging made of single-use plastic.
Single-use plastic bags.
Plastic-based food wrappers.
Plastic-based eating and drinking utensils.
Plastic-based backdrops and banners.
This policy is based on the principles of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Reject (4R) and requires all academic and administrative units to support its implementation through coordination, monitoring, and awareness campaigns.
Unpad encourages students, lecturers, and staff to adopt sustainable habits by bringing reusable containers, utensils, and tumblers. The university also promotes paper reduction by transitioning to digital solutions, such as electronic documents and online collaboration tools, thereby reducing deforestation and waste.
To further promote eco-friendly behavior, Unpad launched the “Green Habits: Get to Know Cikahuripan” campaign, introducing Cikahuripan, a free refillable drinking water facility available at multiple campus locations. This initiative replaces single-use plastic bottles and encourages the use of personal tumblers, supporting Unpad’s ongoing effort to foster sustainable lifestyles and reduce environmental impact.
