Universitas Padjadjaran plays a strategic role in shaping clean energy and climate policy at the national level through active collaboration with government ministries and academic institutions. In May 2024, the SDGs Center Unpad hosted a policy consultation with the National Research and Innovation Agency to support the development of Indonesia’s Carbon Economic Value policy for the renewable energy sector. The university’s contributions included expert analysis on carbon pricing, fiscal policy alignment, investment incentives for renewable energy, and socioeconomic modelling for the Cap and Trade mechanism. Additionally, on July 22, 2024, Unpad, together with IPB University and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, organized a national seminar and workshop on climate change titled “Active Multi Stakeholder Participation in Achieving Enhanced NDC.” The event highlighted the urgency of achieving Indonesia’s Enhanced NDC targets and underscored the university’s responsibility to translate research into cross-sector climate action, policy support, and community engagement.
Beyond its national engagements, Universitas Padjadjaran also strengthens global collaboration on clean energy and climate policy through the Energy Transition Consortium developed in partnership with the Government of Denmark. Through this initiative, Unpad supports international dialogue on renewable energy innovation, evidence-based climate governance, and just transition pathways. The consortium integrates interdisciplinary research, policy analysis, and capacity building to ensure that Indonesia’s energy transition aligns with global best practices while advancing collaborative solutions across academia, industry, and government institutions.
Together, these national and global initiatives demonstrate Unpad’s strong commitment to informing and supporting clean energy and energy-efficient technology policy development. By providing scientific evidence, facilitating multi stakeholder cooperation, and engaging in international partnerships, the university plays a pivotal role in accelerating Indonesia’s low-carbon transition and contributing to global efforts toward sustainable and climate-resilient energy systems.
