Universitas Padjadjaran has implemented a land-sensitive waste management system as part of its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable campus development under the Rector’s Regulation No. 3 of 2022 on Eco Friendly Campus. This policy ensures that all waste management activities are carried out with minimal impact on soil, water, and surrounding ecosystems. Waste disposal practices prioritize segregation, recycling, and composting to reduce landfill dependency and prevent land degradation. In addition, Unpad promotes the use of green infrastructure, including infiltration wells and rainwater harvesting systems, to manage runoff and maintain healthy soil conditions within the campus environment.
To further protect the land and environment, Unpad integrates waste treatment systems with educational and operational activities. Waste from laboratories, canteens, and administrative areas is managed using environmentally friendly technologies and monitored to ensure compliance with safety and sustainability standards. The university’s facilities also encourage the reuse of materials, transforming organic waste into compost for campus landscaping and agricultural use, which supports soil enrichment and reduces external waste disposal.
Aligned with this approach, Universitas Padjadjaran enforces a plastic waste reduction policy that eliminates single-use plastics across campus. The university promotes the use of reusable containers, refillable water stations, and sustainable packaging alternatives in all student and staff activities. Collaboration with local waste banks and student organizations strengthens recycling programs and environmental awareness campaigns. Through these combined measures, Unpad demonstrates its long-term commitment to responsible land management, waste reduction, and the creation of a clean, sustainable, and environmentally conscious campus.
